Faced with legislation, DoD directives outlined in Executive Order 14036, policy guidance to encourage competition in DoD contracting, and enhanced methods of tracking competitive progress, Thales recognized the vital need to widen its competitive moat. With that came increased pressure to deliver software faster while still ensuring the highest levels of reliability, security, and quality in its codebase. This required establishing enforceable organization-wide coding standards and minimizing developer time spent on rework.
